Our dedicated and passionate team strives to impart their love and knowledge of dance to the next generation of students, creating an atmosphere rich with imagination, understanding, and creativity.
We cater for students from 2.5 years of age and up, our specialized preschool program is the perfect start for your little one. All our Classical Ballet Classes are run under the RAD syllabi with all classes being taught by a qualified teacher.
We have a 100% pass rate in examinations held under the RAD with over 70% receiving distinction!
We also offer fun and energetic Jazz and Hip-Hop classes for all ages. Here at RJ Performing Arts Academy, your child’s dance education is important to us, we aim to give each pupil one on one attention and ensure they learn to dance and grow in a safe and nurturing environment.

Rohanna Thurgood – Principal RAD RTS
Rohanna began ballet at the age of 4 and has danced for over 15 years.
She studied full-time ballet at the ‘Tanya Pearson’s Classical Coaching Academy’ and has danced and competed throughout Australia and overseas. Rohanna completed her Advanced 2 exam with the Royal Academy of Dance, the RAD’s most prestigious exam receiving Honours. Before going on to achieve her teacher’s certificate (CBTS) with the RAD. Rohanna has been lucky enough to work with world-renowned choreographers such as Paul Boyd, Tanya Pearson, and Jason Coleman to name a few. Although ballet remains Rohanna’s first love, she has also trained extensively in Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, Musical Theatre, Drama and Singing.
Rohanna has now been a fulltime ballet teacher and studio owner for over 4 years and counts herself blessed to be able to work so closely with the art form that she loves. Dedicated and passionate Rohanna strives to impart her love and knowledge of dance to the next generation of students, creating an atmosphere rich with imagination, understanding, and creativity. She hopes that RJ Performing Arts can become a haven and sanctuary for children to grow and achieve.
Growing up on the Central Coast, Alex commenced
dance lessons at age 5 beginning with jazz and musical theatre. Soon finding a passion for classical dance, she turned her focus to Ballet (RAD), whilst also excelling in Jazz, Tap, and Contemporary, competing in Eisteddfods across NSW as part of a group and a soloist. In 2008, Alex toured the West Coast of USA, performing at Disneyland and attending lessons by some of the biggest names in dance in the US, across all genres.
Alex has continued to pursue a career in the arts, taking out 1st place in Higher School Certificate Drama in 2013 and currently studying a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Performance at Macquarie University. In 2016 she endeavors to complete her ATOD teaching certificate in Tap and RAD Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies to give her students the best possible coaching. She is delighted to be teaching a variety of dance genres at RJPAA.
Dominique’s drive and passion for dancing/performing is seen through her versatility, stage presence and genuine love for creating. Growing up she trained at Constant Groove Dance Studio and trained by teachers such as Danielle Cook, Zoey Black, Natasha Marconi, Jessica Smithson, and Daryl Morante, just to name a few. She has been dancing for over fourteen years.
After completing her Certificate IV in Dance at Brent Street in 2016 she continued broadening her training as a dancer and started experimenting more with her choreographic abilities.
She undertook a three-month course with Tiana Canterbury training in various hip hop styles but mainly Dance Hall and Afro. In 2017, she landed her first job with Immaculate Productions and has been working as a dancer/entertainer for them ever since. These include gigs such as dancing at weddings and other corporate events for companies.
Through 2017 and 2018 she collaborated with friends and created some videos to upload to social media as well as her video that she choreographed and styled. In 2018, she also was fortunate to be cast in Marko Panzic’s and Katie’s Sanchez’s course, The Dream Show/Business 2018. This has been the most important and influential training she has ever had and has helped her mold herself into the type of artist/performer she wants to be. Through the course, she was fortunate to be trained by international dancer/choreographer Lee Daniel and Sarah Burns who toured with Beyoncé for years as one of her dancers.
Dominique thoroughly enjoys all styles of dance. Each style allows her to experiment with movement and each genre allows her to convey different parts of her bubbly and happy personality. Dominique is a versatile dancer and knows how to add her flare to various styles. Her strengths lie in Jazz, Commercial and Hip Hop but she is also trained in other styles such as Contemporary, Lyrical, Ballet, Musical Theatre, Latin Fusion, and Dance Hall.
Dominique’s work includes, Nutrimetics Awards Night Presentation 2015-Dancer Podium dancer for Mardi Gras 2017 at Star Bar, Dancer for Refugee Week 2017 for Ramos- (Humanity), Back up Dancer for Michael Jackson/Prince Tribute Shows 2017, Dancer for Joe Moda in his Italian Music Video 2016 (Pout), Flash Mob Dancer for Hornsby Westfield Spring Fashion Launch and Dancer in Sam J’s Music video ‘Wanting to Move’ 2017, Dancer for Local Government Procurement Event 2017 – Immaculate Productions, Dancer for IBM Flash Drive Launch 2018 – Immaculate Productions, Blackmore’s Running Festival 2018- Cheerleader -Immaculate Productions and performed at various weddings through Immaculate Productions.
With over 17 years of dancing experience in all genres, and 6 years of dance teaching experience Kirstin currently holds a bachelor of dance majoring in jazz and is currently studying a bachelor of dance education. Being taught by some of the best in the industry has allowed Kirstin to grow as a teacher and choreographer.
Having performed in Hong Kong representing Australia at the age of 16, and then going on the perform in ‘fast and fresh, short and sweet’ festival. Other performances include major dance pieces, Christmas gigs, and cheerleading.
Fees and Enrollment Details
School fees are issued by the end of week 1 of the term, invoices are sent out termly with the amount (9, 10 or 11 weeks tuition), which is due by week 2. Should you need to organize a payment plan, please do not hesitate to contact us, we are happy to invoice monthly or fortnightly to assist you with your payments.
